All about Bernedoodles!

What is a Bernedoodle?

A Bernedoodle is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle.

This combination gives you a perfect, loving companion for active owners and families with children. Another awesome thing about Bernedoodles- they have the intelligence and low shedding coat of the Poodle combined with the laid-back, yet incredibly loyal nature of the Bernese mountain dog!

This breed was originally combined to exhibit the positive traits of the Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog and the result is normally an intelligent, gentle, sociable and enthusiastic dog who is suited for family life.

Coat and Colors:

The Bernedoodles coat is a single coat that is described as a long wavy coat. Some have a straight coat. They come in a variety of different colors: solid black, black and white, black and brown, and tri-color (brown, black, and white). They also come in sable, brindle, chocolate, phantom, and merle. Some may also have markings on their chest similar to a Bernese Mountain Dog. Brushing 2-3 times a week is recommended.

Do they shed?

The Bernedoodle is often known to be hypoallergenic and is a very low shedding breed. They don't shed, but still need regular grooming. Most owners will do a teddy bear clip every 6-8 weeks.

*it is advised to wait until your puppy is older than 7-9 months before clipping their coats*

How big will a Bernedoodle get?

This all depends on the type of Bernedoodle you get! A standard Bernedoodle is between 70-90lbs. grown and somewhere between 23-29 inches tall. A standard Bernedoodle is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a standard Poodle.

A miniature Bernedoodle weighs 25-50lbs. and gets about 18-22 inches tall. A miniature Bernedoodle is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a miniature Poodle.

Since Bernedoodles are a breed that are playful and lively, they thrive when they get around 60 minutes of exercise and play a day.
