Prepare for Puppy

Now that you have reserved your Criss Cross My Doodle puppy, it's time to prepare to welcome your new family member home. We are here to assist you in ensuring that the puppy's transition from our home to yours goes as smoothly and stress-free as possible.

Puppy-proof your home

Puppies are like toddlers; they naturally love to explore! Therefore, it's crucial to make sure your home is safe and secure before bringing your new puppy home.

1. DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES

Store chemicals, cleaning supplies, medications, and toxic plants out of your puppy's reach and keep trash cans secured. Make sure you monitor your puppy around electrical cables to avoid serious injury or even death.

2. OTHER HAZARDS

To prevent potential injuries to your puppy, install gates at the top and bottom of stairs, avoid access to balconies, and ensure that all windows and doors are closed and secured. Check your fencing for any gaps where your puppy could squeeze through.

Puppies tend to wander around the house looking for items to chew or swallow, which could lead to blockages. It is extremely important to make sure to pick up small objects, toys, and any small items of clothing, such as dirty socks and undergarments.

3. BE PREPARED FOR AN EMERGENCY

Have first aid kit prepared with medical supplies, including adhesive bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, a digital thermometer, tweezers, scissors, and hydrogen peroxide (for inducing vomiting, if advised). Include emergency contacts, medical records, and pet-safe items like styptic powder, keeping everything in a portable bag.
